Hendersonville among Tunnel Vision competition finalists

Hendersonville is one of three Tennessee cities – joining Knoxville and Gatlinburg – to be named a finalist in the Boring Company’s Tunnel Vision Contest.

The competition invited cities, individuals, companies and other government entities submit tunnel project proposals to the Boring Company, allowing for proposals that included pedestrian, utility, Loop tunnels, water tunnels and freight tunnels, among other uses. The tunnels could be up to a mile long and 12 feet wide inside and were evaluated on usefulness, stakeholder engagement and technical, economic and regulatory feasibility.

The finalists were named as The Boring Company, owned by billionaire Elon Musk, has started drilling on the Music City Loop in Nashville. That project is intended to run from the Capitol Building to the Nashville airport and includes another line connecting West End to Midtown along Broadway…
