After restaurant closure, mayor says state limits property tax solutions

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — Another East Nashville restaurant is closing its doors — and the owner says rising property taxes are a major reason why.

Pelican and Pig will serve its last customers this week after seven years in business. Owner Nick Gidry says increasing costs across the board — especially a sharp spike in property taxes — made it impossible to keep going.

“That’s a bit of a gut punch,” Gidry said earlier this week. “It’s an insult to the people that have helped make the city amazing.”…
