NES roughly doubles lineworkers on standby for Sunday evening storm

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — Possible winds of up to 75 miles an hour were expected Sunday into Monday, and Nashville Electric Service posted it’s preparing for possible damage to the power grid and downed power lines across the area. That could mean another round of outages.

The warning comes as Nashville is still recovering from what NES called the worst storm in its history just weeks ago. In late January, a catastrophic ice storm knocked out power for two weeks during below-freezing temperatures. Now, Middle Tennessee is bracing again.

NES posted on social media Sunday that more damage is possible. But this time, the utility says it has 410 lineworkers pre-staged, with another 50 expected to join Monday morning…
