Smyrna police put shoppers on alert Thursday after several people reported a man walking up to vehicles near the Kroger on Sam Ridley Parkway and telling drivers their engines sounded wrong. The suspect allegedly asked victims, including women who were still seated in their cars, to pop their hoods. In each report, the drivers left the area without incident. In a Facebook post, the Smyrna Police Department described the suspect as a clean-cut Black male linked to a dark gray, four-door Subaru Legacy with tinted windows.
