Nolensville Road set for major expansion as growth surges in South Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — A major road project aimed at reducing traffic and improving safety in South Nashville is moving forward.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation has included Phase 2 of improvements to Nolensville Road in its updated 10-year plan. Officials say the project targets one of the area’s busiest and fastest-growing corridors.

What’s changing

The project will expand parts of Nolensville Road from two lanes to five lanes between Burkitt Road and Old Hickory Boulevard. The plan also includes dedicated turn lanes, sidewalks, and bicycle lanes to improve traffic flow and safety.

Construction is already underway on Phase 1, which runs from Old Hickory Boulevard to Mill Creek.
