‘Less-lethal round’ fired after police find person with weapon outside Smyrna gas station, officials say

SMYRNA, Tenn. (WKRN) — A large police presence was spotted Saturday afternoon in Smyrna, where authorities reportedly encountered a person with a weapon.

A Smyrna resident shared video with News 2 showing multiple law enforcement vehicles and officers holding guns as they appeared to confront a man outside of a gas station along North Lowry Street on Saturday, April 11.

In the video, you can hear what sounds like a gunshot before the man started stumbling around and dropped to his knees. Then, officers approached the man and surrounded him.

Heather Kent, the public information officer for the Town of Smyrna, told News 2 that the Smyrna Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance involving “an individual known to have a history of making threats toward law enforcement officers and who is frequently armed.”…
