Tennessee’s tunnels: Exploring the state’s underground future

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — After learning about Nashville’s historic tunnels and modern utility tunnels, News 2 is taking another look at tunnels in the works and in the future for Tennessee.

On Monday, the General Assembly passed a bill establishing the subterranean transportation infrastructure coordination authority, which is a nine-member board appointed by the governor that would oversee construction, operation and maintenance for underground transit projects.

Speaking of underground transit projects, The Boring Company’s made steady progress on the Music City Loop since the project was announced last summer — both in terms of obtaining state permits and in terms of physical blasting and boring to construct the loop.
