Residents, businesses push for ‘happy medium’ in 12 South parking fight

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — A proposed parking structure in Nashville’s popular 12 South neighborhood is now on hold after a packed Metro Traffic and Parking Commission meeting highlighted growing frustration from both residents and business owners over congestion and parking turnover in the area.

The commission voted Monday to defer the proposal for 60 days while additional community meetings are held to discuss possible solutions.

The debate comes after several neighborhood streets implemented Residential Permit Parking, or RPP, restricting parking to residents and pushing many visitors out of side streets and back onto 12 South itself…
