New downtown Nashville private security begins after previous firm fined $118K

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — A new private security company will begin working downtown this weekend after Metro declined to renew its contract with the embattled private security firm Solaren Risk Management.

But the change still drew scrutiny from some Metro Council members this week, after years of concerns over private security operations in Nashville’s busiest district.

Nashville’s Central Business Improvement District and the Nashville Downtown Partnership have hired Civicity, which describes itself as providing “human-centered security for public spaces,” to patrol downtown alongside Metro Nashville police officers, already assigned to the area…
