Former Orleans DA Leon Cannizzaro retiring from AG Murrill’s office with ‘no regrets’

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – Former Orleans Parish District Attorney Leon Cannizzaro told Fox 8 on Wednesday (May 27) he is retiring from Attorney General Liz Murrill’s office effective June 1 “with no regrets.”

Cannizzaro, 73, has headed the criminal prosecutions division of the AG’s office since April 2021. Former attorney general Jeff Landry hired Cannizzaro before moving on to the governor’s mansion.

“After he became governor, Liz asked me to stay on,” Cannizzaro said. “I promised to give her one good year, and it’s been 2 1/2. So, I think I’ve kept my promise. I don’t have any regrets.”…
