State cites lost evidence, dead witnesses as it seeks to dismiss Antoinette Frank’s petition from death row

It’s been more than 30 years since Antoinette Frank, a former NOPD officer, was found guilty and sentenced to die for her role in a grisly triple murder during a botched armed robbery at a Vietnamese restaurant in New Orleans East.

On Wednesday, Criminal District Judge Kimya Holmes heard arguments over Frank’s long-dormant petition for a review of her conviction and sentence, as state prosecutors claimed it should be dismissed over the impact of it languishing so long.

Attorney General Liz Murrill’s office stepped in last year to press a similar argument in Frank’s case and that of other condemned inmates as she sought to restart the state’s execution chamber…
