NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – Today is a perfect example of what the rest of the week will look like. Warm, humid, and mostly quiet, with a few afternoon showers and thunderstorms popping up each day.
High temperatures will reach the upper 80s daily, with a few spots touching 90 degrees. With the humidity, it will feel hotter than the thermometer shows at times, pushing heat index values into the triple digits.
Make sure you are drinking plenty of water and taking breaks in the air conditioning, especially if you have plans outdoors during the hottest part of the day.
While the overall flooding threat remains low, keep an eye out for summertime pop-up storms. These storms often do not move much, and that can allow heavy rain to pile up over the same area.
