After human remains found in Marrero backyard, woman charged with failure to report homicide

Six weeks after authorities recovered the partial skeletal remains of a man buried in a Marrero backyard, the Jefferson Parish District Attorney’s Office has formally filed charges against the first of five suspects arrested in the case.

Kelly Barrios, 40, of Ponchatoula, was charged Friday with failure to report the commission of a homicide and obstruction of justice involving a second-degree murder investigation, according to Jefferson Parish court records.

Barrios used to live at the house on Gaudet Drive in Marrero where Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives found the remains of 37-year-old Eddie Tillman Jr., according to investigators.

Tillman disappeared on the night of Aug. 16, 2023, after he was called from his mother’s Bridge City home to help a friend. He was never seen again. Relatives heard rumors that he’d been beaten to death…
