New Orleans avoids worst of Arthur as trees fall and Carrollton plant issue clears

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – New Orleans fared well compared to other parishes during Thursday’s severe weather, but Mayor Helena Moreno expressed concern about a failure at the Sewerage and Water Board’s new power complex at the Carrollton plant.

The plant had issues with its frequency changers and went offline for 30 minutes to an hour. The Sewerage and Water Board was able to repair it, but officials are investigating what caused the issue.

“As soon as I was alerted about it this morning, I was like, how? How is this even happening?” Moreno said. “You have to remember, this is the new power complex that just came online. And so whatever the issue may be, the Sewerage and Water Board knows that I expect it to be resolved immediately.”…
