Ten employees at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner are being laid off following a contract dispute.
The workers are employed by Legends Global, a venue management company that was contracted by the City of Kenner to manage the Pontchartrain Center. Many of the employees have worked at the center for more than 20 years.
“Everyone’s benefits are the biggie. We don’t have a severance package,” Melanie Dupuy said. “Our benefits end tomorrow. So we have one week to figure out doctors’ appointments, prescriptions, fill all of this before it terminates tomorrow.”…
