Marcell Rodriguez, police chief of the town of Jean Lafitte for the past 15 years, died Monday at West Jefferson Medical Center in Marrero following a brief illness. He was 75.
“Marcell was a strong man with integrity and an honest toughness to do the job. But he had that compassion and heart,” said State Rep. Timothy Kerner Sr., a longtime friend and former mayor of Lafitte.
