NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – After celebrating America’s 250th birthday, parts of southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi could see the potential for severe weather on Sunday.
The Storm Prediction Center highlights Tangipahoa, Washington and St. Tammany parishes along with Pearl River and Hancock counties as a LEVEL 1 or MARGINAL risk for severe weather with the biggest threats being damaging wind gusts and flooding.
Taking a look at FUTURECAST to give you a better ideas to the timing and areas that could see storms:
Storms will start popping up along Plaquemine’s parish around lunchtime then increase in the hours following turning rather widespread by dinnertime then mellowing out at 8:30 p.m. with some linger showers 10:30 p.m.
***(NOTE: I could see the outlook for Sunday being updated to include our South Shore parishes too after taking a look at the models!)
In terms of wind gusts, according to FUTURECAST, it’s looking like our strongest wind gusts will be around 9 p.m. on Sunday…
