NEW ORLEANS, LA — Flood watches stayed up across much of southern Louisiana through Friday morning as bands of tropical moisture kept moving through the state.
Forecasters warned some areas could see more than 10 inches of rain, with the worst concern stretching from the New Orleans area to the river parishes and bayou country.
The Threat
Officials said the main risk was not wind, but water. Heavy rainfall was expected to keep causing street flooding and dangerous travel conditions.
The National Hurricane Center said the remnant system still had a low chance of regaining tropical or subtropical traits later over the Atlantic.
