DURHAM, N.C. — Fifth-year defensive tackle Kam Hamilton entered during the first series and was a major part of Tulane’s line rotation on Saturday, making three tackles in the Green Wave’s 17-3 loss to Duke.
Hamilton, who started 23 games for Tulane before going undrafted in April as a fourth-year senior, received an injunction in court that allowed him to return. He began practicing two weeks ago, but the Wave did not confirm his eligibility to play until an hour before kickoff at Wade Wallace Stadium.
Hamilton, who was auto-enrolled in the draft, participated in workouts with the Saints and Arizona Cardinals but never signed an NFL contract. The NCAA recently adopted a rule change granted five years of college eligibility, and although players from the freshman class of 2022 were not grandfathered in, Hamilton is one of many who sought redress in the court system…
