NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — After several years in business, Kermit’s Tremé Mother-In-Law Lounge will be closing it’s doors.
Owner and famous jazz trumpeter Kermit Ruffins made the announcement on social media on Wednesday, Sept. 9, stating:
“The days are coming to an end at the Mother-In-Law Lounge for me. The business is that I don’t own the building I own the lot. The owner is an elderly guy and on my lease I have first tabs to buy and I’ve been begging him for years to sell and he text me today stating that he’s ready to sell and I basically said, and I’m ready to get out lol I figured when he was ready to sell that I’ll be ready to be out of the business. We have had the time of our life no regrets.”
Patrons in the comments shared their experiences at the establishment calling it a “safe haven.”
