FBI touts record drop in violent crime after Operation Summer Heat 2.0

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) says partnerships with local and state law enforcement helped to deliver the largest one-year drop of violent crime rates in bureau data history.

The results follow a crime crackdown federal agents call Operation Summer Heat 2.0.

In July, a driver led the FBI and Louisiana State Police (LSP) troopers on a 15-minute chase through New Orleans streets. FBI Special Agent in Charge Jonathan Tapp said the key factor in securing the arrest was aerial surveillance and officers on the ground working together…
