NEW ORLEANS — On a quiet stretch of General Pershing Street, neighbors didn’t run off the man recently sleeping in his car outside their front doors. They welcomed him as part of the block.
That relationship took a heartbreaking turn last Thursday (Sept. 10), when he was shot after trying to stop three suspects from burglarizing cars on the street.
