At least one person was shot at the intersection of North Dorgenois and Pauger streets in New Orleans’s Seventh Ward around 9:30 p.m. Sunday, according to police. Officers asked residents to avoid the area as the investigation got underway, and the injured person’s condition remains unknown.
New Orleans police are investigating the shooting as a developing story, according to WDSU, which reported the incident. Details on a possible suspect or motive have not been released, and the station notes the investigation was still active as of Sunday night.
This is not the first time violence has struck this exact corner. WWL-TV reported that the same intersection was the site of a fatal shooting back in December 2016, when officers responding to calls of gunfire found a man shot to death in the street; investigators at the time could not immediately identify suspects or a motive.
