NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — After 20 years of serving New Orleans, the Southern Food and Beverage Museum has closed it’s doors.
The museum first opened in 2004 under the direction of Elizabeth Williams, Gina Warner and Matt Konigsmark. The three came came together in a business mindset to open an establishment celebrating foods of the American South.

Over 11,00 artifacts and several exhibitions were housed in the museum, including the McKenzie’s Bakery neon sign, the original Barq’s Root Beer sign, the classic sign from Commander’s Palace, the Leah Chase Louisiana Gallery, the Popeye’s Fried Chicken exhibition and much more.
The owners did not state the reason for the museum’s closing but some of the items from New Orleans’ culinary history will be up for sale…
