A century after her grandfather put out the first issue, Renette Dejoie-Hall will retire from her role as publisher of The Louisiana Weekly, she said on Tuesday.
Her son Christopher Dejoie-Hall will succeed her at the family-run newspaper on Dec. 31, she told WBOK Radio. Speaking with host and Times-Picayune columnist Will Sutton, Dejoie-Hall said her son will be the fourth generation of the Dejoie family to direct the newspaper.
“Chris is my right hand,” she said of the transition, which coincides with the end of the paper’s centennial and was announced just days before its 101st anniversary. “And (The Louisiana Weekly) is soon to be his baby.”…
