Mayor Helena Moreno, five city council members and District Attorney Jason Williams were each issued subpoenas Monday to testify in court and to bring records as Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill presses for answers about her now-tossed indictment this summer by a New Orleans grand jury.
An attorney for Murrill sought the subpoenas as part of a public records lawsuit filed last month against special prosecutor Laurie White. Murrill’s lawyers have alleged that White wasn’t candid in responding to a request for communications and other records about the unusual July 2 charging of a sitting attorney general.
