BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – A Louisiana State Police investigator recommended a fellow trooper be criminally charged with battery after video surfaced showing him kicking a suspect in the head following a high-speed chase, according to records obtained by the WAFB I-TEAM.
Trooper Troy Pichon, an 11-year veteran of State Police who previously served with the New Orleans Police Department, claimed his July 2022 kick was an accident while responding to an officer-involved shooting call.
“My original plan was to step over him and get from the vehicle to the bad guy to extract him and clear the vehicle,” Pichon told the State Police Commission. “When his partner started digging, I misjudged the distance. I had an oh s*** moment.”…
