NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — New Orleans city officials announced plans to build a $78 million VA healthcare facility in New Orleans East Wednesday, Sept. 23.
According to city officials, the new facility will include around 60 residential beds, along with dedicated spaces for personalized care, dining, recreation, fitness and other services designed to support veterans during their stay.

City officials said the project represents a significant investment along the Bullard corridor and could support additional development and economic activity in the area.
“This $78 million investment reflects my commitment to bringing major development and resources to New Orleans East,” said Councilmember Jason Hughes. “This project will expand access to quality care for our veterans while bringing doctors, nurses, families and new economic activity to our community. They will eat in our restaurants, shop in our stores and support local businesses. This investment will serve as a catalyst for continued economic development along the Bullard corridor and throughout New Orleans East.”…
