Houstonians are so accustomed to living in Space City that they may forget the aerospace industry has a number of other hubs along the Gulf Coast. Louisiana, in particular, is coming in hot.
The Tulane Hullabaloo, the New Orleans institution’s righteously named student publication, reported this week that the 192-year-old private university will launch a minor in space science and engineering beginning in the fall 2027 semester.
The curriculum, which includes a new astrophysics class but otherwise will consist of preexisting courses, is part of the School of Science & Engineering’s1,000 Day Plan, a six-part initiative that includes research into biomedical and biochemical systems related to space exploration and leveraging the university’s partnerships with major aerospace contractors such as Boeing and Lockheed Martin…
