The city on Tuesday released messages and other records related to Attorney General Liz Murrill’s indictment in July by an Orleans Parish grand jury, in response to a request from Murrill’s attorneys.
The records include drafts of a letter Mayor Helena Moreno and five council members penned to special prosecutor Laurie White, aiming to tamp down a political firestorm by asking her to torpedo the July 2 indictment. White obliged, dropping the charges against Murrill that included 16 counts of public intimidation and malfeasance in office.
