10 best things we ate at NOLA restaurants in September: Tamales, dumplings, sloppy joes, more

It’s already October, but Ian McNulty and the rest of the Times-Picayune staff had quite a September of eating around New Orleans.

Tamales at Casimiro, 800 Louisa St., Bywater

A changing weekend special at the Bywater’s new Mexican breakfast and lunch spot (a casual sibling to Acamaya), these are worth crossing town to try. It’s all about the masa, with the essence of corn conveyed with buttery richness.

Dumpling martini at The Kingsway, 4201 Magazine St., Uptown

This is an Asian tasting menu restaurant that has options at each course. Don’t miss the crawfish dumpling, a single, oversized piece with a tender wrapper over a black garlic. Pair with the dashi martini on the drinks list. Both are available to order on their own at the bar if the full tasting menu isn’t in the cards for your visit…
