NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — New Orleans Archbishop James Checchio blessed animals at the Audubon Zoo Sunday, Oct. 4.
According to the Audubon Nature Institute, Checchio was joined by Fr. Timothy D. Hedrick from St. Catherine of Siena and students from Loyola University Community Action Program. The blessing of the animals celebrated the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals.
