This is a response to the letter published Jan. 6 titled, “Help grandparents who are paying the price for opioid crisis.” I am a grandparent who raised three grandchildren because my daughter is an addict. I worked for the state of Louisiana, which was not a high-paying job. I went to The Department and Children and Family Services for financial assistance. They told me because I was working I was not eligible for financial assistance, not even food stamps.
