Quadruple shooting in Algiers kills one, injures three people

New Orleans Police say overnight gunfire in Algiers at Wall Blvd. and Murl Street left a man dead and three other people hospitalized.

“At about 1:15 a.m., NOPD Fourth District officers responded to multiple calls of shots fired,” Public Information Officer Karen Boudrie said in a news release. “EMS arrived and pronounced the victim dead on scene.”

She says a short time later, they became aware of three more people who had been shot at the scene.

“Two other victims, one an adult male, and one juvenile male, showed up at a local hospital,” Boudrie said. “Another victim, also a juvenile male, was located at Greenspoint Drive and transported to a local hospital.”

She says the three surviving individuals are expected to live.

“Their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.”

Detectives are working to figure out who shot the four people and why.

“Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.”
