In the dark underbelly of New Orleans during the early 1990s, a series of gruesome murders shocked the city, earning the moniker “The Storyville Slayer.” This elusive serial killer targeted vulnerable individuals, primarily prostitutes and drug addicts, leaving a trail of at least 24 victims.
The investigation into these heinous crimes was marred by complexity, with two separate suspects considered. One of them was convicted of a single murder, leading investigators to suspect the involvement of multiple killers.
The killings unfolded over several years, with bodies discovered sporadically. In early 1994, skeletal remains identified as “Jane Doe No. 2” and a teenage girl labeled “Jane Doe No. 3” were found in St. John the Baptist Parish. The victims remained unidentified due to extreme decomposition.
The killer’s spree continued, claiming victims like 25-year-old Stephanie Murray, found near the Bonnet CarrĂ© Spillway, and another unidentified young girl in February 1994. More skeletal remains, labeled “Jane Doe No. 5” and “John Doe No. 1,” were discovered in canals in April.
