NEW ORLEANS ( WGNO ) — A Tennessee man has been sentenced for having a machine gun in his possession on Mardi Gras Day in 2023.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Louisiana reported 24-year-old Keaton Manghane, of Chattanooga, was carrying a loaded handgun with a Glock auto-sear on Bourbon Street on Feb. 21, 2023.

After he was arrested, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives confirmed that the gun functioned as a machine gun.
Manghane pled guilty in court on Sept. 6 last year.
He could have faced a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000 and up to three years of supervised release.
On Jan. 23, he was sentenced to 20 months in prison, which will run consecutively to unrelated pending charges back in Tennessee. His sentence will be followed by three years of supervised release and a $100 special assessment fee.
