New Orleans officials had warning on Uptown parade route: Get rid of your tents, tarps

Justin Fredricks staked out his territory on the Uptown parade route bright and early on Friday morning with nearly a dozen ladders and one living-room sized tarp. But just half an hour after claiming his turf, city workers arrived. Fredricks, who had set up too early, according to the city Mardi Gras ordinance, was forced to relinquish the prized spot and move his gear elsewhere.
