A man wanted in Slidell on a first-degree murder charges stemming from a 2021 homicide is now in custody.

St. Tammany Parish sheriff’s deputies arrested Tyrese Batiste during a Saturday night traffic stop on Bayou Liberty Road. According to Lieutenant Suzanne Carboni, a deputy on patrol pulled over a car with broken taillights. The driver of the car, Carboni says, was Tyrese Batiste, the suspect in a September 2021 murder. Carboni did not specify the case for which Batiste was wanted.
Batiste is now in the St. Tammany Parish Jail, where he is being held as a fugitive.
