NEW ORLEANS ( WGNO ) — Troopers with the Louisiana State Police recovered more than 60 guns from patrols in the French Quarter during the Mardi Gras season.

LSP officials said in a social media post that its partnership with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries on Bourbon Street led to the recovery of 57 illegally carried guns and seven seized from patrols in the French Quarter.
Officials with LSP said that 130 Troopers were deployed throughout the city of New Orleans.
Troopers were on assignment in the French Quarter, Central Business District, surrounding roadways and parade routes throughout the season.
