NEW ORLEANS ( WGNO ) — Like a teacher at the head of the class, the guy with the “B” on his head is Larry Irvin.
Larry and his New Orleans team are teachers.
And WGNO Good Morning New Orleans features reporter Bill Wood in their classroom.
It’s called “Brothers Empowered To Teach.”
Since 2014, 200 teachers have come to the classroom through this program.
All because of Larry Irvin.
Larry was not always a straight-A student.
He did drugs.
He got arrested.
Twice.
He once got in a high-speed chase with the cops.
All that before he arrived where he is today.
The gospel according to Larry is that kids become what they see.
And now they see a teacher.
When they see the guy with “the B”.
