NEW JERSEY (PIX11) – A New Jersey animal shelter has received more than 85 dogs and cats from New Orleans after Hurricane Farncie devastated a local New Orleans shelter
St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center in Madison, N.J., announced Sunday evening.
“St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center has been dedicated to helping animals in need, regardless of species, size, or temperament,” their website read. “With a people-focused, community-based approach, we treat every animal as an individual and emphasize specialized care for both animals and their families.”
St. Hubert’s is working with Greater Good Charities to relocate as many pets as possible. The dogs and cats that came to the East Coast from the South were all awaiting adoption before Wednesday’s storm. Officials said that transporting these adoptable shelter pets creates space for newly lost and displaced cats and dogs until they can be reunited with their families.
