Former FBI agent convicted of attempted rape as other charges mount

NEW ORLEANS ( WGNO ) — A former FBI special agent pleaded guilty in New Orleans to attempted third-degree rape on Thursday, Sept. 26.

54-year-old David Harris was also facing a sexual battery charge in New Orleans, but the charge was dismissed in exchange for his guilty plea.

Last week, Harris pled guilty to indecent behavior with a juvenile in Ascension Parish, and prosecutors say he’s expected to plead guilty to the same charge in East Baton Rouge Parish.

“Harris abused his position of trust and authority to victimize others across multiple cities and multiple states, using his position of power to dominate and really get away with this for far too long,” said Orleans Parish District Attorney Jason Williams.

Harris is also accused of similar crimes in Texas and Florida.

“We continue to work with the East Baton Rouge Parish, as well as working with the counties in Texas and Florida to make sure that Mr. Harris will be held accountable for all of his actions throughout the United States,” said Leila Braswell, a 23rd Judicial District prosecutor.
