MANDEVILLE, La. ( WGNO ) — A Mandeville-area man was arrested on Friday in connection with an animal cruelty investigation.
According to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, on the morning of Oct. 4, a patrol deputy with the sheriff’s office was at a neighboring home on an unrelated call when he saw multiple dogs in very poor condition at a home in the 27000 block of Jackson Street.

The deputy then reportedly went to the residence where he found 11 dogs, all of whom looked severely emaciated, unfed and in very bad condition.
52-year-old Antino McKendell, the owner of the dogs, was arrested and will be booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center on 11 counts of cruelty to animals.
A 12th animal was also found at the home. It reportedly also looked to be neglected, but not was not in as severe condition as the others. Its owner was given a citation for cruelty to animals.
