NEW ORLEANS ( WGNO ) — A Veterans Day tribute was held Monday morning, Nov. 11 at Brother Martin High School honoring a fallen alum.
WGNO crews were at the ceremony to witness the NJROTC raise the American flag on the flagpole dedicated to fallen alumnus Chief Petty Officer Jacques Fontan as the Crusader band played the National Anthem.

Fontan’s mother was also in attendance.
“We can’t thank Brother Martin enough because it’s such an edge you walk here. It’s not a fun thing… more or less.. it’s sad. But I’ll tell you what, he died doing what he wanted to do. He wanted to be a navy seal more than anything,” said Hazel Fontan.
