Appeals court agrees to pay for same attorney for convicted former educator Toshemie Wilson

NEW ORLEANS – A former Amory teacher will get to use his same attorney — at taxpayer expense — as he appeals his nearly 200-year prison sentence to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans.

Former Amory High School teacher Toshemie Wilson, 49, was found guilty in late 2023 of eight counts of child sexual exploitation for coercing male students to make sexually explicit videos. In late May, Chief U.S. District Court Judge Debra Brown sentenced him to 192 years in prison and ordered him to pay more than $123,000 in restitution to two of the victims.
