From “murder capital” to sweeping reductions in crime, New Orleans officials look ahead to 2025

The fight against violent crime for the city of New Orleans this year saw some great improvements while still producing jarring headlines.

All in all, there are some take aways that should make 2025 even better. District Attorney Jason Williams spoke with Tommy Tucker about the progress and what is needed in the new year.

“The key to success has been partnerships. We have collaborated with CIA, NSA, and state police to build better cases and to hone in on certain violent individuals.”

Now as 2025 comes into focus, Williams says it is time to double down on those collaborations as he feels there is a bit of a framework from which to work.

“We were able to establish a comprehensive master plan that pairs prevention and prosecution into a single strategy.”

Williams says this strategy along with improvements in technology setups a successful new year.
