NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Dense fog reported over the Causeway Bridge this morning. Lanes are restricted, and speeds are reduced until conditions improve.
Devastating storms ripped across Texas yesterday. The forecast called for multiple severe storms to form creating for threats of damaging winds and large tornados. This unfortunately played out as expected as weather turned violent in SE Texas the day after Christmas.
After isolated storms expected again today, tomorrow’s forecast is becoming increasingly concerning for portions of Louisiana and Mississippi. The highest threat is for locations along and north of the I-10/12 corridor.
There is a risk for all modes of severe weather tomorrow evening. Any storm that does develop will have the capability of producing damaging winds, hail, and even an isolated tornado. Hail may be p to or over 1 inch in diameter. Wind gusts up to 60 mph.
There will be a strong low level flow of warm moist air from the Gulf all day long creating for primed environments for these storms to ‘take off’ in strength when developing. Have a way of receiving notification in case a warning is issued for your neighborhood.
