Governor Tate Reeves has ordered that all State of Mississippi flags be flown at half staff in honor of Mississippi residents that were killed in the attack on New Orleans.
According to WJTV, the governor has directed that all flags on all buildings and grounds in Mississippi be flown at half staff beginning at sunrise on Thursday, January 9th, 2025 and ending at sunset. Flags will be flown at half-mast again on Friday, January 17th, 2025.
The flags are being flown on Thursday in memory of Nikyra Dedeaux, and on Friday, January 17 in memory of Matthew Tenedorio.
The 9th and 17th will be days to mourn and remember the two Mississippians that were killed in the terror attack on New Orleans that occurred on New Year’s Day.
“Mississippi mourns the loss of Nikyra, Matthew, and the 12 other Americans who lost their lives in the terror attack in New Orleans,” said Governor Reeves. “Nikyra and Matthew were loved by their friends, family, and their state. We continue to stand with our friends in Louisiana, and will continue to pray for the victims and their families. Mississippi will never forget them.”
