Has FEMA’s housing response improved since Katrina?

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — In the aftermath of Katrina, FEMA admitted that its efforts to provide housing to victims was slow and inefficient.

The agency also announced that lessons had been learned and discussed ways to improve the process in future natural disasters. Nearly 20 years later, some storm victims in Western North Carolina are frustrated, saying nothing has changed.

MIXED OPINIONS ON FEMA RESPONSE

In the months since Helene, News 13 has talked to several people frustrated by what they call a lack of help for those impacted by the storm, especially when it comes to housing.
