Technology helped Kenner police ID suspect arrested in killing of 20-year-old, officials say

A Metairie man has been arrested in connection with death of a 20-year-old shot and killed in Kenner last month.

Keith Cotton, 21, was booked Wednesday with first-degree murder, obstruction of justice and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to Lt. Mark McCormick, spokesperson for the Kenner Police Department.

Officers found Tyrea James shot multiple times about 1:30 a.m. on Dec. 28 after receiving several calls reporting gunfire in the 2700 block of Huntsville Street, McCormick said.

James was taken to University Medical Center in New Orleans but died of his injuries…
